About Me:

Originally from Iran, I obtained my master’s degree in mathematics in 2014 and spent over a decade as a dedicated mathematics educator. During this time, I also served as a deputy head of a school, gaining valuable leadership experience in education. In 2022, I embarked on a new academic journey by joining the Learning, Education, and Technology (LET) Master's program at the University of Oulu, Finland, a move that deepened my passion for exploring the intersection of education and technology.

My academic focus took a significant turn in October 2023 when I joined the 'Data Lit Project' at the 'INTERACT Research Unit' as a Ph.D. candidate. Guided by Netta Iivari and with the support of Marianne Kinnula and Eva Durall Gazulla, my research seeks to advance the field of critical data literacy education, among Gz.

My current research investigates how children interact with and perceive data-driven systems, such as social media, through participatory and speculative design workshops. By engaging children in hands-on activities, such as creating future social media prototypes and reflecting on their online experiences, I aim to uncover how young people understand datafication, digital privacy, and the influence of technology on their lives.

Ultimately, my research strives to push the boundaries of critical data literacy, empowering children to not only understand the implications of living in a datafied society but to also envision and shape a more responsible and ethically sound digital future. My hope is to contribute to educational frameworks that equip future generations with the tools they need to critically engage with technology and data in meaningful ways.
